How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?

Slow down. Breathe. Enjoy the sunshine. Go swim. See the sights. Connect with that person.

Do that thing you always wanted to do.

If you can’t, what’s holding you back? Figure that out.

Then go and find out which underpaid single mother already did what you always wanted to do, and follow her lead.

Daily Affirmations, if wanted:

• Your life is a garden: Water what nourishes, remove what poisons, and be mindful of the weeds, they pop up regularly.

• Grow at your own pace. There’s only one you.

• Rest well: It takes time to recuperate, and you need it, body and soul.

• Take that time off you’ve been meaning to take, and do something positive you genuinely enjoy.

• Give people their flowers when they’re around to receive them.

• Be a good friend. That sometimes means saying, “Thus far and no further,” and meaning it.

• Boundaries: Yours and others. Respect them.

• Read at least one book of fiction every year. You don’t have to tell anybody about it. Just enjoy the experience.

• Find that music album Younger You loved and listen to it all the way through.

I need a time machine

What is your favorite drink?

… back to that one afternoon at that pretty vacation spot.
That fruit punch – nonalcoholic, tropical, freshly made – that tasted like a Gift from the Gods.

Every other drink has paled in comparison.
A whole glass of Paradise.
Perfection.

One of those days…

Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.

Long hours of excellent sleep. Then, a perfect cup of tea.

A slow morning. Great brunch. No plans. A Long Love’s Day.

Tasty snacks. Great dinner. Cool water, sumptuous wine. A mellow evening, a calm night.

Stars in the sky.

And something hilarious that makes us cry with laughter.

that feeling of being too late

keyboard-edar-public domain lifeguard-unsplash

that feeling of being too late.

everything’s so fast these days
zooming by in cyberspace
so far so that knowing something today
is already way too late.

how keep up with all the new things
words, visuals, memes
twitterings +++NEWS NEWS NEWS+++
live streams and live feeds
that apparently are telling us
everything everything everything
now now now
oh my god oh my god oh my god
did you hear did you read did you see?!

one question:
when everything is everything
always, all the time
what is anything, then?
is there such a thing as ‘then’
if everything is always breathlessly NOW?

in this constant always
how carve out a time to rest?
are we even willing
to give ourselves that kind of space?

it’s so exhausting.
one wishes to decompress.

slow down, not just pump the brakes
but come to a full stop
get out of the digital car
and look at the world around us
once again

catching some z’s

tired
so tired
and still awake
sight blurring
in the middle of the day
but you still need to have a life

so out you go
out, out
out and about
with fam and friends
while all you really want
is your bed

the lovely heavenly place
full of softness and warmth
that place of sweet dreams
and deep sleep
perfection

until the alarm destroys it all
waking you up
singing of Godknowswhat
but up you go
out, out
out and about
your usual workday business

and come the weekend
you may be able to
snuggle up
wiggle down
wrap yourself up in eiderdown
and shut the world out, out
until you wake up all on your own

at least that’s the hope for now…
