seconds to sunrise

image

morning madness
three seconds to sunrise
a moment of memory
intense in its clarity
leading to all kinds of
oh my god you just did that
absurdities
that look sligtly insane
in clear daylight

the settled soberness
of an untroubled mind
a chuckle, a sigh
those minutes to remember
oh yes, that time
sometimes it’s nice
to go a little crazy
once in a while.

white stairs

ice cream 3 laurenconrad dot com

quiet steps
across sunny stone
scaling the depth of summer

white stairs
solemnly clear
bright
in their commemoration
of a cruel time

now used daily
as a resting place
by those visiting from abroad.

*

after sunset
voices rise
to glasses raised

laughter rippling
across fountains
sparkling in fanning light

lives lived
among strangers
together
on ancient steps
once built by a great power

then everpresent
now lying low
among the weathered stone

remembered
but no longer known.

there is light

waves 4

the sword of a soothing look
cuts loose the meteor of affection

*

joy withers
in a moment of crisp
bright, brittle
understanding
frissoned with threads of doubt

of sight and senses
but the heart knows
what is meant
and will not concede to
willful self
deceit

*

three heartbeats worth of relief
hope restored
there is light
no comet flashing
stark against the void

but an ancient fire
kindled by the first of flames
alive, living
knowing, known.

presence

silhouette

of the body, in the soul
woman is made and known
beyond the sight
alone
a moment’s breath
life, liquid
welling deep into invisible bone

of the body, with the body
curving, slopes are borne
high and heavy, known
a moment’s step
smooth along the palm
holding, holding

of the body, with the soul
silk and velvet, living
a moment’s sight
open rays in stars, shining
knowing, knowing
known.

life and time

image

asleep in the rise
of a star
set against light
passing
in lifetimes, twinned
against systems
nebulous
as far as they are wide
daunting
we circumvent
a sun

one look
the night sky
and the past gazes
back, calmly

ancient is the dark
that holds our sun
light so holy
so necessary
to us all
as we go
gently, gently
into that good
night

so bright
stardust, twinkling
alive.
