moments, many

sunlight grass sinfulfolkdotcom

to be thankful
is to be mindful
of those moments, many
where one is centered, whole

a heartbeat, two
a minute, an hour, a day
where there’s more
than the day-to-day
9-to-5
Mo.-Fri. plus overtime

where, like music
the world opens wide
to heartbeats of peace

where you can exhale and just
be.

a moment of
genuine
thanks giving.

reflection

fall 13

fall and thoughts sail down
like leaves off a tree of self
doubt and certainty

asking, wondering
so many etcetera, too many to count
silently loud
in the quietness of hidden hearts;

questions that linger
ever since ‘I’ became ‘Me’
and ‘You’ was separate
apart, a part of everyone
else
someone, somebody
a body beyond the self
‘I’, ‘Me’
sad hours seem long

that room where they come and go
why Michelangelo?

*

consciousness, they say
is when a mirror loses its wonder
and becomes reflection.

this is what we have
a sense of confinement that is open
static yet moving
a constant attempt to decipher
the senses trick or treating
us to another’s perception;

always desirous to
touch beyond skin
and hear the voice
that reaches our inner ear

as deep as heartbeats go
beyond skin and bone
to that marrow that others call soul.

summer, evening

image

under the dawn-dusk sky
clumps of water are shot
spray high
foam white
descending in a liquid rush
crashing, splashing
into whisking green waves
grey blue black
flashing sharply on the crest
reminiscent of an ocean.

ghostly
bulbs of light
waver below
like subs rising, worlds sinking
flashing mutely in the lively dark
almost holy

while the young sit, stand
untouched
drinking once-sacred cups
raised in honour
to an ancient god
silently slipping between living bodies
blessing few
anointing all.

soon

image

I know I’ve been
rather absent
fairly quiet
separate
and possibly apart

for some time now.

I have not forgotten you
all you lovely people
here at threegoodwords.

A lot has been happening
manuscripts are being read
publishing is a real
possibility
and as you can imagine
I am thrilled.

What, you’re probably asking.
Who, Where, How, and Why?
So many questions…

The answer’s soon to come.

I just wanted to thank you
for reading and liking
and commenting on
what I put to paper.

I just wanted to thank you
for very simply being there.

Your support is wonderful
and I can’t say
how much it means to me.

I am truly touched.

And soon, soon
I will be back to
writing
posting
and writing some more
regularly.

Have the best of Sundays

seconds to sunrise

image

morning madness
three seconds to sunrise
a moment of memory
intense in its clarity
leading to all kinds of
oh my god you just did that
absurdities
that look sligtly insane
in clear daylight

the settled soberness
of an untroubled mind
a chuckle, a sigh
those minutes to remember
oh yes, that time
sometimes it’s nice
to go a little crazy
once in a while.
